How has the coronavirus pandemic impacted protection for refugees and the internally displaced? Some states have shut borders to try to prevent infection, which has had the effect of leaving some of the world’s most vulnerable out in the cold. But other governments, as well as UNHCR and its partners, have expanded their support networks for the forcibly displaced and the communities that host them. Protection means mobilizing on a huge range of fronts, from legal assistance, to public health, to combating poverty and destitution.
