Case name: 2020_11_14_WM527
Situation: 5 travelers from Tazaghine rescued to Motril
Status of WTM Investigation: Concluded
Place of Incident: Western Mediterranean
Summary
On the 14th of November the Alarm Phone was alerted by relatives of travelers to a boat in distress carrying 5 people, which had departed from Tazaghine at 10:00h CEST on the previous day. At 21:40h we informed the Spanish authorities, Salvamento Maritimo (SM) Almeria did not know about the case and told us to contact the Guardia Civil Motril and Almeria. It was not possible to reach either of them. SM Madrid also said that they haven’t rescued a boat with 5 people. We found the following article that we thought could confirm the rescue of this boat: https://www.lavanguardia.com/vida/20201114/49468455125/trasladados-al-puerto-de-motril-seis-inmigrantes-de-origen-marroqui.html. At 00:55h we received a confirmation of the rescue from relatives of the travelers who could identify their relatives on the images of the boat rescued by the Guardia Civil to Motril.
